The Booking Process
5 Easy Steps to your Wedding Cake
Step 1 – Securing your Wedding Date
Once you have booked your wedding date and secured your venue, you’ll need to start planning for your wedding’s other essential elements. High on your list of priorities will be the cake. It’s crucial to secure your wedding cake designer early as many of us are booked up 12-18 months in advance. It’s never too early to get in touch to check my availability. I will always do my best to accommodate you. I only take on a limited number of wedding cakes per week to enable me to give your cake my full attention. If I am available, I will ask for a £100 (non-refundable) Booking Fee to secure your date.
If you prefer to chat first, we can arrange a 30-minute Zoom video or phone call, where I can answer any questions you have before booking.
Step 2 – Designing the Cake
Approximately 6 months before your wedding, we’ll meet for a design consultation. This will be in my home studio. These consultations usually last about an hour, and we’ll talk about your wedding and the ideas you have for your wedding cake.
By the time we meet, many of your wedding plans will probably have already been decided, so you’ll have a good idea of the style, theme, colour scheme and may have already chosen your wedding flowers. Hopefully, you will also know the number of people your cake will need to serve, which will help me determine the size of the cake you’ll need.
This design consultation allows you to share your cake ideas so that we can design the cake that will fit in perfectly with your day. Please bring any colour swatches, ribbon, invitations or other details with you as they will all help with the design process.
Step 3 – Choosing your Flavours
This is the fun part, and many couples tell me this was their favourite part. When you leave your design consultation, you will be given a Luxury Complimentary Sample Box of up to 6 of my most popular flavours. This allows you to try the different flavours at home and choose which flavours you’d like for each tier of your cake.
Step 4 – Finalising your Order
After your design consultation, I will put together an Order Confirmation, which is a detailed description of what was discussed and agreed upon. A coloured sketch will be provided, giving you an idea of what your cake will look like. The final price will be on the Order Confirmation. Hopefully, by this point you will have decided on your cake flavours too. At this stage, any changes can still be made to the design, so I’ll look forward to hearing and acting on your feedback.
Once the details are all sorted and you are happy with the design, you can relax knowing that everything has been taken care of.
Step 5 – Payment and Delivery
The final balance is due 6 weeks before your wedding date and an Invoice will be sent to you.
I will liaise directly with your venue and arrange delivery, and set up your cake on the day of your wedding.
With your cake taken care of, this leaves you to enjoy your wedding day with family and friends.
